Final Writing Assigment
Technology has had a major affect on the artistic experience. As technology improves the options artists have increase dramatically. Art is no longer simply painting and drawing but computers have brought a whole new component to the experience. Technology and art are not longer two separate entities. In recent years they have meshed and technology works to enhance art. In the situational tour that we conducted we were able to take photographs and crop them and change colors in order to make them represent an idea that we wanted to portray. Without recent technology we would not have been able to manipulate our images to fit the themes we had in mind. We captured a single moment on film and although the image may not have accurately portrayed what was going on, through the use of the computer we could use them the way we wanted. Creating the situational tour after completing the drawing section of the class truly showed how art differs. In a drawing once it is completed there is little that can be done to change or take away part of the image. Drawing feels more permanent and has a different feeling than a computer generated image. The multimedia section allowed me to see how differently art can be interpreted when other things are incorporated. Also, after seeing everyone else’s projects it amazed me at how different images of similar subjects can be interpreted. Technology has changed the way artists work and has broadened the idea of art in general.

Security is tight as protesters take over the National Mall on the 5th anniversary of the war in Iraq
Along with the protesters, police officers were a major presence on the National Mall and were eager to show their authority
A line of motorcycles was intimidating
There seemed to be more motorcycles than officers
They also arrived on horseback, determined to make their presence known
Cars lined the streets
While some were driven through crowds, at some points looking as if they might hit protesters who refused to move out of the way
The officers had every intention of getting up close and personal with the protesters
And even surrounded the crowd
They stood, and did not seem fazed by the days events
Some officers went as far as to block off areas with caution tape, an attempt to secure the area
In the end officers rode away on motorcycles, bicycles, horses and in cars, because their authority was no longer needed Monday, March 17, 2008

End Torture- Protest to represent those being tortured in various locations around the globe. I plan to photograph the crowd and document how many people actually attend the event as well as any actual demonstration pieces that may be set up.
What is the impact of digital technology in art?
Digital technology has enabled artists to quickly and easily manipulate their own images or videos as well as those of others. It opens a new level of possibilities. A computer provides countless tools that enable an artist to change an image in more ways than are possible with just a paintbrush.
